Surgical Services for Pets

With your furry family members, surgery is a normal part of their life. Dental extractions, spays/neuters, C-sections are all considered surgical procedures. On the other end of the spectrum are bone repairs, tumour removals and more complex treatments. We understand how stressful it can be for you to know your pet will be going under the knife. With our team of experienced veterinarians and technicians, as well as our modern facilities, you can have peace of mind that your pets are in capable hands.

What types of surgeries can you perform?

Here at Upper Bathurst, some of the operations we conduct in our facilities are:

  • Routine and Emergency surgeries
  • Spays and neuters
  • Wound care
  • Foreign body removal
  • Lump removal
  • Hematoma drainage

Please call us for our full roster of procedures.

What is a board certified veterinary surgeon?

These are doctors who receive additional training and qualifications on more complex procedures. If your pet requires complicated surgeries, we are connected with a network of surgical specialists in Toronto and beyond, who we work with to ensure your pet receives the specialized care they need.

Is anesthesia safe for pets?

Like with any medication or treatment, there will always be a certain level of risk involved. That being said, anesthesia is safe for the overwhelming majority of dogs, cats and other pets. Prior to your pet’s surgery, we will conduct diagnostic exams to make sure they are good candidates for anesthesia and to determine the exact amount they need. Adverse reactions are extremely rare. Most patients handle anesthesia very well, with minor post-op side effects like fatigue, vomiting and diarrhea which usually disappear in a matter of hours.
