What types of food should I feed my senior dog/cat?
Before making any drastic changes to your pet’s diet (or other aspects of their health) it’s best to seek the advice of your veterinarian. All pets are different and will require unique considerations. That being said, it is generally a good idea to give older pets softer foods that are easy to chew, which will be more gentle on their weakening teeth and jaw muscles. Different formulations and brands can be purchased, as well as whole food options like mashed sweet potato.
How much exercise should a senior pet get?
A total of 30 minutes of physical activity is usually enough for most older dogs, cats and other pets. Walks, swimming and other low-impact activities easy on their joints are the best options. It may also be a good idea to invest in some brain-stimulating toys and games, to keep them sharp and engaged.
